Cambs 16-17 year olds get support to kick start their future

A new programme for Cambridge young people aged 16-17 is starting to see significant results. The focus is on those currently not employed, in education or receiving any training of which there are 1000 in Cambridgeshire*

Called GAPs it aims to help these young people gain confidence, a qualification and work experience, the things they need to kick start their future. Funded by the Education Funding Agency, it is expected that all those who complete will gain a NVQ Level 1 or 2 along with Employability Skills, Functional Skills and work placement.

£2.4 million available to help disadvantaged learners in East of England

Disadvantaged learners in the East of England will be helped to get back into the workplace thanks to a £2.4million fund, with grants to be co-ordinated by workforce development organisation TCHC.

TCHC has been re-awarded the contract to be the grant co-ordinating body in the East of England for ESF Community Grants, with the service to be delivered until July 2015. Small third sector organisations can apply for up to £15,000 to manage a project for learners, with the grants co-funded by the Skills Funding Agency.
