Who is this course for?
This course is for those interested in starting a business or becoming self-employed but are not sure how to go about it
It is for residents of Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough aged 19 and over, that are unemployed and claiming either: Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, or Universal Credit (JCP eligible groups)
What does the course consist of?
Business is about having an idea that has potential to make money and earn you a living. The course will help you to:
- Find out if you have the right personal attributes for self-employment
- An insight into what setting up a business involves
- Discover what the risks and benefits are
- Where to get help
- Decide how to take the next steps

Successful completion of the course will help you decide if working for yourself is for you. We highly recommend that that if you are really interested in setting up a business you join the Understanding Enterprise course where you will gain all the in-depth knowledge and skills needed to run a successful company. You might also want help with IT or, Social Media to help improve your networking and marketing.
