Redundancy Rights: Notice Periods
If you are selected for redundancy you will be given a redundancy notice. You should be given at least the statutory redundancy notice period, which is based on the length of time you have been with the company:
- 1 month to 2 years - 1 week’s notice
- 2 years to 12 years - 1 week’s notice for every year employed
- Over 12 years - at least 12 weeks in advance.
This should give you time to put a plan of action together and seek alternative work or training.
