What is Information Advice and Guidance?

Everyone has the ability and potential to develop and grow in their life and career, but sometimes things can get in the way and hold you back.
Our Information Advice and Guidance support aims to:

Maths Training for Essex Employees - Count on Us

If your staff need to brush up their maths skills we can help. Numeracy Skills Support for the Workforce can help your staff develop their maths skills which in turn helps your business. You can Count on Us and our tutors to build up their maths ability.

If you live in Suffolk and are looking for a helping hand to get a job or training, Opportunity Suffolk may be just what you are looking for? If you face challenges to get you ready for work, Opportunity Suffolk has a network of partners who can support you – whatever challenges you face.

Opportunity Suffolk is a flexible programme designed to help you develop the skills you need and support you into work or take a step towards it.

Opportunity Suffolk is a network of local specialist support organisations with a wide range of expertise to help build skills, gain confidence and meet the challenges you face to get you into employment or training.

The programme is tailored specifically to individual needs, whatever and however complex they may be. You will have a mentor who will be there to support you. If you can’t make it to us, we can come to you.

The programme is funded as part of the Building Better Opportunities by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund

Who is it for?

Anyone aged 24 or over, who lives in Suffolk and has not worked in the last two years.

What does the programme include?

This flexible programme is designed to meet your needs.  It offers intensive targeted support this could include:

  • Identifying the development needs and support required
  • Information, advice and guidance session
  • Financial and budgeting support
  • Housing and debt advice
  • Childcare support
  • English language training
  • Mentor to provide continuing support throughout the programme
  • Motivation and confidence building
  • Action plan to map out the relevant support
  • Bespoke package of support to overcome issues you face
  • Support applying for jobs

The length of the programme is determined by your needs.

Eligibility

If your business is based in Northamptonshire, Essex or Greater Cambridgeshire, Great Peterborough LEP area, then Skills Support for the Workforce can offer training to your staff. Employees receiving the training must be aged 17+ and there is no upper age limit.

Building Better Opportunities

What is Building Better Opportunities?

t is a programme which supports local projects and organisations to tackle the root causes of poverty, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth. It aims to help the most disadvantaged in our community.

The five key areas of Building Better Opportunities are:

  • Help the most disadvantaged
  • Tackle social exclusion
  • Be focused on the capabilities of each individual
  • Lead to better coordinated services
  • Create new opportunities for work.

We aim to do this by working in partnership with community organisations who have specific expertise and together work to offer a tailored and holistic package of support. 

How is it funded?

Big Lottery Fund is matching funds from the European Social Fund (ESF) 2014-2020 to invest in local projects tackling the root causes of poverty, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth.

The funding will be delivered in 38 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas (see map below) according to local priorities, which have been set by the LEPs themselves. It will support a variety of projects, ranging from those improving employability for the most disadvantaged, helping those with multiple and complex needs, to improving financial literacy.

TCHC with our partners has won funding to local communities with two programmes: Community Connections North and Enterprising People.

Community Connections

Tailored for individual needs, it offers a wide range of support from across our network of community organisations to help people to achieve their dreams and goals by helping them move towards or into employment.

There is a wide range of support available to meet the diverse needs of the local community, whether they are disabled, homeless, a migrant, lone parent, isolated or facing other factors holding them back, Community Connections North aims to help you overcome and grasp the local opportunities available to you.

The programme runs across Wisbech, March, Whittlesey, Chatteris, Kings Lynn, West Norfolk, Rutland, Huntingdonshire, Ely and East Cambridgeshire, The area of the Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough LEP Fenland area (GCGP LEP).

Enterprising People

Many people see self-employment as an opportunity to turn their lives around, but they are often unsure of how to get started. Enterprising People aims to help individuals develop the tools they need to become self-employed or start a business.

It runs in the South East Midland Local Enterprise Partnership which includes areas in and around Kettering, Daventry, South Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Central Beds, Luton and Banbury.

Opportunity Suffolk

Has a dedicated team of local experts to help give people the support and tools they need to get on in life and move closer towards or into work. the programme supports people aged over 24 and living in Suffolk, who have not worked for more than two years. Whatever barriers locals face be it disability, learning difficulties, homelessness, addiction, English as a second language or migration issues - our partners run tailored programmes putting the individual at the heart of this flexible programme.
