Why train your staff?
The Mental Capacity Act was designed in 2005 by the government to protect and restore power to vulnerable people who lack capacity, and supports people who have capacity to be able to make decisions and plan their future; this is everyone who is 18 and over.
It is also relevant to everyone who is involved in the treatment, care and support of people aged 16 and over who are unable to make all, or some decisions by themselves.
The course consists of:
- Understanding duty of care
- Five key principles of mental capacity
- When to test
- How to test mental capacity
- What is deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS)
- DoLs assessment

Social Care Training to suit your needs
As the social care sector grows it is important to retain your staff as competition in the sector increases. Keeping your staff up to date with the latest skills and training is essential in the health and social care industry.
Training can be prohibitive in a business where margins are tight, however there is funding for training available for social care staff.
We can offer a range of courses funded through the Education and Skill Funding Agency and European Social Fund.
Short courses
These programmes will lead to progressions to full QCF units that can be partially funded.
Apprenticeships
We can offer Apprenticeships in health and social care, and may be able to fund some credits towards this through our Skills Support for the Workforce programme. Otherwise normal Apprenticeship funding applies.
