Redundancy Rights: Notice Periods

If you are selected for redundancy you will be given a redundancy notice. You should be given at least the statutory redundancy notice period, which is based on the length of time you have been with the company:

  • 1 month to 2 years - 1 week’s notice
  • 2 years to 12 years - 1 week’s notice for every year employed
  • Over 12 years - at least 12 weeks in advance.

This should give you time to put a plan of action together and seek alternative work or training.

If you are in the East of England, and have received your redundancy notice or are a company about to make redundancies, then you can contact us on 01923 698430 or email the redundancy team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
