Supporting Learners During National Careers Week

What will your future look like?

During National Careers Week, learners at TCHC were supported to explore this important question, think positively about their goals, and take meaningful steps towards their next stage with confidence.

Throughout the week, learners reflected on their interests, strengths, and ambitions while exploring a wide range of career opportunities. Understanding what motivates them, the environments they enjoy working in, and the skills they already possess is an important starting point when considering future career choices. They also explored resources such as the National Careers Service to research industries, job roles, and future opportunities.

Preparing for the future does not have to happen all at once. Small, achievable steps can make a big difference over time. These included updating CVs, researching job roles, practising interview questions, and speaking with tutors or Careers Advisers for guidance and support.

Another key focus during National Careers Week was the importance of developing transferable skills valued by employers across all industries. Communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and digital confidence are all essential in the workplace, and learners continue to build these skills throughout their programmes at TCHC.

The week also highlighted opportunities to gain new experiences wherever possible, such as work experience, volunteering, employer talks, and taster sessions. These experiences build confidence, strengthen workplace skills, and provide a clearer understanding of different career paths and industries.

At TCHC, we understand that every learner’s journey is different, and there is no single “right” path into employment, education, or training. National Careers Week served as a valuable reminder that support is always available to help learners make informed decisions and continue progressing towards their goals.
